Mensen die geven om DoS-bescherming (of iets anders), kunnen verschillende nodes draaien (of helemaal geen node). Als ze proberen een *geldige*, blok te verwerpen dat wordt geaccepteerd door 51% hashrate -- dan zijn ze hardforking van het netwerk, zoals BCH. Loze dreiging.

Ook de aarzeling van Bitcoin Core om nieuwe soft forks te adopteren - [zoals APO, CTV, Bip300, CAT] - moet opnieuw worden geïnterpreteerd in het licht van het OP RETURN-drama.
OP Return, is *niets*.
De OP_NOP softforks - onschadelijk, opt-in en omkeerbaar - zijn ook niets.
Maar een stofje bestaat uit ongeveer 500 biljard atomen.
Als een leger bij elk stofje tot stilstand komt, komt het niet ver. Maar het grotere probleem is dat het (blijkbaar) ook bij elk *atoom* zal stoppen.
(Het "atoom" is op_return, en de "stofdeeltjes" bing zoals CTV of Bip300.)
Dit heeft inderdaad grote implicaties voor het voortbestaan van Bitcoin en de levensvatbaarheid van concurrenten ( Altcoins , hard forks , zelfs CBDC's ) .
